Cathedral Gallery hosts 3 Hawaii artists

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I just finished ‘hanging’ for the art show!  Marie and Kurt, volunteers at the Cathedral Gallery, are fabulous to work with and Alika always to seems to breeze in when we are stuck in a situation to help solve it.  A hidden gem, if you’ve never been there, the Cathedral Gallery is tucked beside the Our Lady of  Peace Cathedral, downtown Honolulu.

Also showing in August is Larak “Raki” Briscoe, company name RakiRaku Pottery.  His ultra shimmery, shiny vessels are practical as well as beautiful.  Perfect for the jewelry also on display.  Lena’s Custom Jewelry  includes Venetian blown glass and Bali silver.

We’d love for you to join us for a wine and pupu reception beginning at 5pm on Friday, August 1st.

August 1, 2008 Cathedral Gallery

1184 Bishop St. Honolulu, 5-9 pm

The opening reception for my next art show is just around the corner!  Part of the First Friday series downtown Chinatown, Honolulu, the Cathedral Gallery will be showcasing myself and a 3D artist for the month of August.  It should be a lot of fun, as well as a bit fishy.  Funky fish bowls with tissue collage.  Gyotaku fish prints embellished with tissue collage, gold thread, shells . . . it’s been wonderful to get my hands back into my art.  I love digital, but nothing like good old glue and paint under the fingernails to feel productive!

Don’t worry, there will be photography.  Edgy interpretations of locales around O’ahu paired with, you guessed it, tissue collage.  When you see it, and feel it, you’ll understand my excitement over this new addition to my pallete.  Here’s a preview of what I’ll be showing . . .
